It's hard to find decent closeups of master paintings. I love to see the methods of painting and how the artist achieves skin tones. These are gorgeous examples. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this totally awesome post. It's the first time I've seen Kroyer's work up close, and I'm blown away...aside from drawing, composition, and color, his brushwork is fabulous!
Just found these, Tim. Great stuff. I especially liked seeing how he put in the boy at the beach figure over the sea that was already painted in. I had not been familiar with this painter before. How sad. He is/was magnificent. Thank you for making me aware.
Tim, Again and Again thank you for these wonderful photos of Peder Krøyer's paintings. I am dumbfounded that I never saw or at least took note of his paintings. I am captivated by a fisherman's face he painted that I saw somewhere else. There is such expression, it is as if you can see to his soul!
No problem guys! If you check now, I updated with a new post of many more Kroyer paintings, there was a big show that just ended there, and I snapped pics of all of the paintings in there!
