Peredvhizniki show at National Museum in Stockholm. Part 1

There is an amazing show up in Stockholm until January regarding " The Wanderers", a group of painters who rebelled against the Russian art school system and branched off for themselves. I'm not going to go in to that too much at this point, Im merely going to post every single painting in that show high rez on this blog in segments with a few days inbetween. This IS a must see show if you are in the area. The shows catalog is avaliable on amazon

I have no idea why its showing up as an un-in-zoomable slideshow, but if you wish to see the images more freely, right-click, then choose either "view/open link in new tab" or "save link as" and save it to your chosen folder on your computer.

Cloudstudies

Its very hard to try and design clouds Ive found out, but its practice that never gets old. Its almost like cafesketching, you never know when they'll disappear, so they become conglomerations of various starting points. A few more hundred of these and I might be on some sort of track!

all small 5x7s or 10x5

Another Car

THis was painted froma combination of a photo I took last year of this amazing Fiat ensemble and a shot of the french corner in LES, Nyc. It was a learning experience for sure, and I was trying to be as loose as possible. Again, cars are difficult to draw for sure.

A car!

This was done from a googled photograph (gasp shock!) but it was enjoyable none the less! I was looking at a few of my favourite painters for inspiration on how to simplify areas and not use the pic slavishly. The biggest difficulties lies in the drawing, since its hard to get your head around how it works in 3d space. Easier if you're in front of it, so you can go round, "understand" how the car is built.

I was invited to show some of my paintings

in Torekov at the annual "Sea Safety Show" and it was most enjoyable. Here is my corner of the tent. They are all quite glary because they are under glass.

The one that got away (ie sold). The only pic I have has glare unfortunately.
